Code of Ethics

When it comes to preferences around style and flavor, wine is inherently biased. However, it is the mission of Winovore to take a balanced, unbiased approach to both tasting and perspectives offered. As such, I have put the following measures in place to ensure transparency with readers.

Conflicts of Interest

I work in public relations and marketing for wine brands and regions. To ensure an unbiased approach, current brand clients will not be included in coverage. I do work with a couple of regional clients and feel that it is impossible to ignore the regions in their entirety - but I will always issue a disclaimer.

Former clients may be included, but Winovore will always offer a disclaimer that discloses the relationship with the brand or region.

If no disclaimer is given, I ensure that there is no current or prior business relationship with the mentioned persons, wineries, brands or regional boards associated.

Accurate, Original Content

Winovore always strives to provide up-to-date, factually correct, original content to its readers. Plagiarism is not encouraged nor tolerated, and any sources will be clearly named and attributed to ensure transparency. Generative AI tools will never be utilized on this blog.

The wine industry is constantly evolving, and there are exceptions to seemingly every wine “rule.” I will do my best to avoid broad generalizations, but for regional overviews, general rules of thumb may be applied.

If I mistakenly share incorrect or inaccurate information, I will adjust content immediately and issue a corrections disclaimer.

Independent Publishing

Winovore is a fully self-funded publication and passion project. I have no ties to any wineries, companies, or corporations who profit from Winovore’s existence, directly or indirectly.

As this is a fully self-funded project, Winovore may accept wine samples or press trip opportunities from wineries, importers, distributors, PR agencies, or regional boards. Winovore cannot guarantee coverage as a result of a sampling or travel opportunity. If Winovore publishes any content that is a result of a sampling or press trip, a disclaimer will be included to clearly indicate this information. If no disclaimer is included, the wine costs or travel expenses were incurred by Winovore directly. Learn more by reading our Editorial Policy.

Ratings

Winovore does not rate wine, as it is highly subjective and heavily reliant on the preference, perspective, and environment of the critic who is tasting. There are already many rating systems — some redundant, some confusing, and very few that are objectively successful — and I do not feel the need to muddy the waters any further.

However, all wines that are featured on Winovore are recommended. I will never feature a wine that I do not recommend.
